OUR STORY
A Legacy of Music and Tradition
Carrying forward a rich musical heritage, our family is devoted to the timeless art of Qawwali. Through soulful compositions and powerful performances, we aim to connect hearts, celebrate culture, and keep this beautiful tradition alive for generations to come.
Nizami Bandhu trace their lineage to the court singers of Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya and the fabled Qawwal Bachche of Amir Khusrau, the 13th-century poet who shaped qawwali itself. Originally of the Sikandra gharana, the family settled in Delhi nearly seven centuries ago and has sung at the Nizamuddin Dargah ever since.
The group was originally formed by Ustad Chand Nizami and his father. Their journey began with a tour of Paris in 1975, opening an international chapter in the family's musical tradition.
Brothers Gulfam Nizami and Gulkhan Nizami carry this tradition forward — the thirty-second generation of a family that has never stopped singing. Audiences know the group as Nizami Bandhu and as the voices of “Kun Faya Kun” from Rockstar.
A voice of warmth, depth, and soaring expression, Gulfam Nizami celebrates the soul of qawwali. His singing brings poetry into vivid focus, inviting listeners into the beauty of every verse and the uplifting spirit of the mehfil.
With vibrant energy and heartfelt expression, Gulkhan Nizami celebrates the power of voices coming together. Alongside Gulfam, he brings the call-and-response of qawwali to life — a musical conversation rich in poetry, feeling, and shared joy.
